The Armed Forces demolished by controlled explosion the unmanned building at Shkëmbi Kavajës

Specialists of the Engineer Battalion, part of Support Command of Albanian Armed Forces (AAF), carried out, a few minutes ago, the demolition of a 6-storey building by controlled explosion in the area known as ‘Shkëmbi i Kavajës’, in Durrës.

The Armed Forces honored two fallen effectives a year ago in Latvia, Major Klodian Tanushi and Corporal Zerife Hasanaj. In a special ceremony organized by the Company of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), attended by the Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka and the Chief of General Staff of the AAF, Bardhyl Kollçaku, who laid wreaths at the memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the homeland in this company.
"We lost two of our best effectives. The AAF family lost two of its members. Two effectives who had their bright career ahead of them, as they had shown their potential in every training and every dislocation ", said Defense Minister during her speech.
MoD’s Press Release on COVID - 19 cases within the ranks of the Armed Forces

Ministry of Defense (MoD) informs that 3 members of the Albanian Armed Forces (AAF), part of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), have been tested positive for COVID-19. The 3 officers were infected while on duty in the KFOR mission, and are part of the contribution of 29 AAF personnel in this operation.
According to NATO guidelines, if military personnel representatives in mission of one of the member states of the Alliance come out positive with COVID-19, they must be repatriated.

The Armed Forces are engaged every day of the week in guaranteeing the implementation of the measures taken for the period of COVID -19 pandemic. As a sign of gratitude for the work done, Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka posted a video, showing moments from the work in the terrain of men and women in uniform: "The deepest gratitude to every man and woman in uniform who today are committed 24/7, helping people in need and ensuring compliance with the measures against COVID - 19, instead of staying home with their family and children in these difficult times. With enormous respect, “Pride for the Armed Forces!” - says Minister Xhaçka.

In conditions when almost all NATO member states have been affected by COVID-19, in a format not previously applied to the Alliance, the Ministers of Defense have participated in a special unscheduled Ministerial.
Defence Minister of Albania, Olta Xhaçka, during her speech via tele-conference, said that COVID-19 is a serious threat and challenge to the security of the Alliance.
