The Adriatic Charter, Xhaçka: Albania will chair A5 in 2019, membership for Kosovo with full rights

The Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka participated in the regular meeting of Defence Ministers of the U.S.- Adriatic Charter (Albania, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina) held in Budva (Montenegro) on 13 and 14 November 2018.

Albania, through the Ministry of Defence, will head the A-5, after less than two months. Minister Xhaçka, as the host of the next meeting in Tirana, invited the homologues of the Adriatic Charter member countries to support Albania's initiative to open the doors to other countries that aspire being part of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Rama and Xhaçka at Kuçova Air Base: Up to 19% increase for military personnel remuneration next year

Up to 19% salary increase is planned for the military personnel for 2019. During the presentation of the Draft Defense Budget from Kuçova Air Base, Prime Minister Edi Rama and Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka declared that this is the greatest increase in the history of the Armed Forces.

Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that "during the review of the draft budget and thanks to the insistence of the Defense Minister, the government will make possible for the AAF a much more substantial budget than was predicted for salary increase.

The draft on “Civil Protection”

The draft on "Civil Protection" aims to reduce the risk of disasters and the fulfillment of Civil Protection to guarantee the protection of people’s lives, property, cultural heritage and the environment by strengthening the Civil Protection System.


Based on this draft, the Civil Protection mission is the creation of the conditions for a society capable of coping with various disasters and recovering through the establishment of an integrated and efficient system of Civil Protection in the Republic of Albania.
