The Albanian "Commando" effectives, part of one of the largest NATO Exercises

The effectives of the Land Force Commando Battalion are taking part in one of the largest training exercises organized by NATO in these decades.

Our commandos have joined the "Trident Juncture 2018" Exercise, which sees taking part 50,000 troops, 10,000 vehicles, 65 combat ships, 250 aircrafts from 31 NATO countries and partner countries. The training is taking place in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Xhaçka receives the Italian counterpart: Albania will chair several regional initiatives next year

The Defence Minister of the Republic of Albania, Olta Xhaçka met her Italian counterpart, Mrs. Elisabetta Trenta. During the meeting, Minister Xhaçka praised Italy as one of the closest historical partners and as an ally of Albania's journey for the integration into Euro-Atlantic structures. Minister Xhaçka confirmed to the counterpart Trenta the Albania’s unquestioned determination to continue its representation with the due rhythm in operations, missions and initiatives within NATO framework.

The minister noted that only this year, Albania has doubled the number of the troops participating in the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.

Special Forces celebrate the 20th Anniversary, Xhaçka: National Asset, it will be modernized

The Albanian Special Forces Battalion has never been more beautiful and festive than on the 20th Anniversary of its foundation, which turned into a celebration, attended by family members of this Battalion.

To celebrate the two decades of history and engagement of the elite unit of the Armed Forces of Albania was also present the Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka, who maximally bestowed the 20 -year contribution of the Special Forces.

“Over 20 years, our Special Forces have succeeded in enriching their resume with a wide geography and variety of engagements, operations, in high-risk locations, and to be the most elite troops of our Armed Forces. This unit is a national asset and these guys are the pride of our Armed Forces, the pride of our country, the pride of each of us. They are silent heroes about whom history speaks itself. Thanks to them, our flag waves proudly alongside the flags of our Allies, in the most difficult operations’ theatres, from distant Mosul to fearsome Kandahar.”- said Minister Xhaçka.

Albanian Naval Forces ship "Lissus" participates in two operations for the migrant's rescue and prevention in the Aegean Sea

In the arch of few hours, the Albanian ship dictated a dingy with 33 people on board, which was embarking water and escorted another one with 40 people spotted by the Turkish Coast Guard.

According to the area of responsibility, the Albanian ship has kept under surveillance the first dingy, where the people on board were removing the water by means at hand. Also, the Albanian crew, consisting of divers and nurses, were in readiness state to evacuate and rescue the people with their rescue boat in case of emergency.

Albanian Commando Troops were ranked third in the International Exercise "Cambrian Patrol"

Albanian Commando Patrol won the third place among 137 patrol teams and more than 1.000 troops participating in the International Exercise "Cambrian Patrol” in the United Kingdom.

The "Cambrian Patrol’’ exercise, with participating troops from 37 countries around the world, is held annually in the Brecon, Wales.

The troops participating in the exercise have to march about 65 km, loaded with weapons and equipment, on both an unknown and harsh ground. Extreme elements of this exercise are evaluated as a proof of leadership, self-discipline, courage, physical endurance and determination.
