Minister Xhaçka visits families affected by earthquake: Today, a message of solidarity and tolerance particularly for destitute

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka visited today the families affected by the earthquake a few days ago in the district of Dibra. She held several meetings with families in the village of Vinjoll and Dukagjini, where the epicenter of the earthquake was, and as a result, more than 20 families have since been sheltered in the tents erected by the Armed Forces.

The consequences of the earthquake, Civil Emergency Services on duty

An inspection team from the General Directorate of Civil Emergencies, headed by its General Director, Mr. Haki Çako inspected yesterday some of the villages of Mat, Dibër District since it was struck by an earthquake on 11th May followed by some aftershocks in Dibër District and in other districts of our country.

The General Directorate of Civil Emergencies carried out the inspection of buildings, dwellings in some of the most affected villages by this disaster in order to provide assistance by the state institutions, in particular the temporary need for tents supply, also they have meetings with heads of local government for the evaluation of the situation, measures taken, technical assistance for the personnel engaged in the process of finding and assessing the earthquake damages in the area.

Bulgary, Albanian commandos admirable representation in multinational exercise

3rd Platoon personnel of the 1st Company, Commando Battalion, took part in the multinational "Platinum Lion 2018" security exercise from 30th of July to 8th of August. The training was held at Novo Selo Training Area in Bulgaria, eight NATO members as well as countries part of PfP program were part of the exercise.

"Platinum Lion 2018" aims at increasing interoperability and strengthening relationships with allied forces in a joint training environment.

The North Atlantic Council has approved the decision to build in Albania their first Air Base in the Western Balkans.
In partnership with the Government of the Republic of Albania, NATO will invest more than 50 million Euros just in the first phase of the modernization of the Kuçova air base.

New members of Albanian Special Forces

13 Armed Forces officers have been certified as the newest members of the Special Forces Battalion. The new officers became part of the elite of the Armed Forces after finishing the 11th basic course, which started with 50 participants, but only 13 managed to complete. For full 6 months, the trainees underwent an intensive training program, which included tactics of small units, special tactics, mountaineering, special reconnaissance, close fighting, water and underwater exercises with and without equipment, survival, etc.
