In the framework of the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Homeland, in the premises of the Centre of Culture, Media, Publications, Museum and Holiday Houses (CCMPMHH), a special and very impressive event was held this afternoon. Under the direct auspices of the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, an exhibition is opened with the most famous works of the Meritorious Painter and Grand Master of Work, Mr. Fatmir Haxhiu, while the exhibition hall at the Centre was given the name of this remarkable painter of our country.
The opening speech was held by the director of CCMPMHH, Ms. Mirela Roshi.
The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, after thanking the participants at the ceremony said: “All this would not have been enough to express the emotion I have today for several reasons, deriving also due to the my family, which is a family of artists, and due to an old friendship between the Honor of the Nation, Kel Kodheli with the giant Fatmir Hoxha. But not only that, it is the honor of the Armed Forces to respect today a pilaster of the Albanian culture, to honor today a genius of the visual art, of the moral and of the art in canvas, to honor today a former military who have gave so much to the Albanian art and culture. Artists like Fatmir Hoxha stand up there and they have granted us their deed, and we will continue to pass it to our future generations, but we should never forget one thing: art is the quintessence of the soul of a Nation and Fatmir Haxhiu knew to preserve and enrich it as very few people in our country”.
Mrs. Kodheli further stressed, we must preserve these values which only a part of society such as the Armed Forces know how to do it better than others, so I want to thank you not only that you knew how to preserve the memoirs of Fatmir Haxhiu as a former military, but also that you have gave me the opportunity, and to generations that will come, to remember the memory of a man who left life only physically, but that will always be present. And they can be only artists like Fatmir Haxhiu, so let us enjoy this few moments of his deed, wishing you a good afternoon. I also hope that the future generations, mostly the children of our militaries, will find an inspiration under the example of Professor Fatmir and all professors of visual art and not only that, why not starting from a hall, such as the hall that will hold the name ‘Fatmir Haxhiu’ from now on”, ended Minister Kodheli.
With a lot emotion was followed by the participants the speech of the daughter of the famous painter Fatmir Haxhiu, Ms. Arjana Maçi Haxhiu. She thanked on behalf of her family, Minister Kodheli, Major General Bazo and Minister of Culture, Mrs. Kumbaro for the honor paid to the image of her father, continuing with some fragments taken from her father’s speech on the day he was awarded the title “Grand Master of Work”. “For me, the Army was the cradle that raised and educated me. It gave me the best virtues that belong to a human being. The Army with its generosity, even though I had finished my school abroad, for artillery, gave everything, opened me the way to continue my studies for painting. After I finished my studies, it created all the opportunities for me to deal with the painting.”
The participants were also greeted by the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Mirela Kumbaro.
Later, Defence Minister Kodheli and the daughter of the painter, Ms. Arjana Maçi Haxhiu discover the plaque with the name of the Meritorious Painter, Fatmir Haxhiu. Then, the participants visited the exhibition with selected works from Fatmir Haxhiu.
