Military Police tests capacities in “Cooperation for security” exercise

For several days, at the Biza training area, the personnel of the operational company of the Military Police and NATO Response Force (NRF) platoon conducted the exercise “Cooperation for security”. The exercise aimed to increase the Military Police capacity for peace support operations, collective defence and disasters relief within the country. Through this exercise, the participating troops tested the operational capabilities of the staffs at the tactical level, as well as knowledge on planning and conduction of operations.

Minister Kodheli celebrates June 1 with the children of the military personnel

Minister Kodheli: We should never stop working to grow and educate our children, to give them the dignity they deserve, the future they deserve, the European future.
On the occasion of June 1, International Children’s Day, in the premises of the Ministry of Defence, the Centre of Culture, Media and Defence Publications (CCMDP) organized today an event with the participation of the children of the military personnel attending the art classes at this centre. At the event attended Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, directors and officers of the Ministry of Defence and General Staff, children of the military, parents and their relatives, etc.

Minister Kodheli at the forum “To be secure”, in Budva, Montenegro

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli participated at the forum “To be Secure”, which is being held in Budva, Montenegro on May 29-31, 2014. The forum is attended by defence ministers, ambassadors and senior representatives of the countries of the region and beyond. The forum “To be Secure” discussed several important issues, such as the situation in Ukraine, mission in Afghanistan after 2014, etc.

In her remarks, Minister Kodheli focused on Afghanistan issue after 2014. She emphasized: “Albania will be side by side with allies for the future decisions. We have done the right thing, at the right time.”

Parliamentary Laws Committee discusses the Armed Forces’ legislative package

The Parliamentary Committee on Legal Issues discussed today the three bills submitted for approval by the Ministry of Defence: Law on Powers, Commanding Authorities and the Strategic Management of the Armed Forces, Law on the Military Career in the Armed Forces, and Law on the Operation of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA). At the committee’s meeting attended the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, and directors and specialists of the Ministry of Defence and General Staff of the Armed Forces.
