Albania cleans up war graves after decades of neglect

Albania has launched a nationwide drive to renovate the long-neglected cemeteries of its war dead in the run-up to 29 November, the anniversary of the country's liberation from German occupation.
Defence Minister Olta Xhacka made the announcement during a tour of a cemetery in Peshkopi, the site of several resistance battles against Italian and later German forces during the Second World War.
The work is being carried out by local authorities and the army, and involves clearing overgrown shrubbery, restoring cracked marble and tiles, and repaving walkways.

Joint performance of the Albania Armed Forces Wind Orchestra and UK Corps of Army Music

In an event organized at Skanderbeg Square in Tirana, Albania Armed Forces Wind Orchestra performed a concert with UK Corps of Army Music, CAMUS, which is on a 2 - week visit to Albania. This concert has attended by the Deputy Minister of Defence Petro Koçi, representatives of British Embassy and also representatives of Tirana Municipality.
As a continuation of the training between U.K and Albania, nine British musicians from the Band of the Prince of Wales's Division, has undertaken a 2 - week training to Albania starting from November 1, 2017. British musicians train together with the Albanian Armed Forces Band as part of their tour, therefore the Office of the British Defence Attaché in Tirana organized this interesting and specific concert for the Albanian public.

Hundreds of residents of Muzhaka in Burrel and surrounding villages will not have problems on the daily commute especially during the winter season.
The Armed Forces completed the construction of a "bailey" bridge, which facilitates pupil mobility to the village school, as well as of residents to the city, to the health center and the offices of the administrative unit.
On the completion of bridge's construction also attended the country's Prime Minister Edi Rama, who was accompanied by Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka and Defense Deputy Minister Petro Koçi.

At the Explosive Materials Plant in Mjekës (Elbasan) has just finished the process of demolition of the last excess ammunitions of the Armed Forces, but the work of this plant has just begun, as its production line is soon to be restored.
Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka was in Mjekës, where she symbolically destroyed the last cartridges and announced a very important investment in this plant.

NATO Ministerial, Minister Xhaçka meets British counterpart Williamson

On the first day of the Defence Ministerial, held at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka met UK Defence Secretary, Gavin Willliamson, who has recently been appointed to this position. At the bilateral meeting with Xhaçka, Williamson appreciated the development of Albanian - UK bilateral relations and cooperation between the countries.
"We appreciate Albania's contribution to NATO structures and particularly to the British-led Spearhead Force known as Very High Readiness Joint Task Force. Dear Minister, allow me to express my appreciation for your highly considerable contribution, irrespective of the country’s budgetary restrictions", - he said.
