Successful conclusion of the operation in support of the Iraqi Government

The Ministry of Defence informs the public that the operation of assistance with weapons and ammunition in support of the Iraqi Government has been completed successfully.
Albania, once again, proved that it is on the side of defending the values of democracy and peace.

On this occasion, Defence Minister Mrs. Mimi Kodheli has sent a thank you letter to all her counterparts of the countries who contributed to this operation. Mrs. Kodheli thanks the Government and the Armed Forces of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark and Australia.

Dear colleagues,

Through this normative act, the Ministry of Defence just gets about 700 million ALL (Albanian Lek) from the Government’s investment fund, which will serve to the most necessary needs for the modernization of our Armed Forces and meeting obligations to our partners.

In cooperation with the General Staff, we have presented to the Council of Ministers the full equipment project of the 2nd Infantry Battalion with equipments according to the elite standards of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Regional Conference “Anti-Corruption” held in Tirana

It was held today, in the Ministry of Defence, the Regional Conference “Anti-corruption”, organized by the European Centre for Security Studies “George C. Marshall”. In this conference attended the Prime Minister of Albania, Mr. Edi Rama, Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo, US Ambassador to Albania, Mr. Alexander Arvizu, Ambassador of Germany, Mr. Helmut Hoffman, and many other guests.

Minister Kodheli meets the Minister of Defence of Italy, Roberta Pinotti

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli, met today the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Italy, Ms. Roberta Pinotti, who is in our country for a one-day official visit. The official visit of Ms. Pinotti to Albania takes place in the framework of the bilateral cooperation plan with the Republic of Italy.
After the welcome with the Guard of Honour, accompanied by the Wind Orchestra of the Armed Forces, both defence ministers held a tête-à-tête meeting, later, it was held the  meeting between the two delegations, led respectively by Minister Kodheli and Minister Pinotti.

Testing of the young soldiers of the Armed Forces

The Armed Forces will employ 250 new professional soldiers. Tests are being held these days in the premises of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC). In the race to become professional soldiers there are 500 young registered people, who will be tested in three phases, the physical, intellectual and psychological one. In order to be accepted in the Armed Forces, tests are generally focused on general knowledge, motivation, accountability, thinking and acting ability, behavior and concentration during conversation, physical ability, etc.
