Training Programme on Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) takes place in Albania

The Training Programme on Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP TP SAP 2017), took place in Tirana with the participation of representatives from Western Balkan countries and European Union member states.
This program is organized by the European Security and Defence College with the support of the Ministries of Defence of Austria, Hungary and Albania, as well as the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX), an instrument of the European Commission.

Fungo: Albania, a very reliable partner of KFOR

Today KFOR Commander, Major General Giovanni Fungo paid an official visit at the Ministry of Defense, where he was received by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Mr. Petro Koçi and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku.

The main topics of the meeting were the key issues of security, prosperity and continuation of our country’s support for NATO Operation in Kosovo (KFOR). Mr. Fungo expressed his appreciation for Albania and the Albanian Armed Forces, referring to them as a reliable partner.
Deputy Minister Koçi emphasized that KFOR is considered as a success story of NATO.

The Centre of Excellence for the phenomenon of Foreign Fighters, Poland supports Albania

Albania will soon have the Centre of Excellence with the aim of studying the phenomenon of Foreign Fighters, where one of the experts will be from Poland. The news was announced during the meeting that Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka had with the Minister of National Defense for Poland, Antoni Macierewicz during his official visit in Tirana.

During the bilateral meeting, Minister Xhaçka praised the support that Poland has given to Albania on the road to NATO membership and now on the road to European Union membership. “We discussed our initiative to finalize the establishment of the Centre of Excellence, with the aim of studying the Phenomenon of Foreign Fighters” said the Minister during the joint press statement.

Minister Xhaçka: Not just bridges and roads. AAF contributes to schools in remote villages

Not just bridges and extended roads, but also contribution and support to the community through the different materials for schools of remote areas. This was the mission of the Armed Forces when they arrived in the village of Arrëz, Devoll Municipality. A few days ago, the bridges platoon of the Engineering Battalion of the Support Command finished the bridge that connects the two neighborhoods of the village with 635 residents and facilitates their communication with 900 residents of neighboring villages.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka herself saw the bridge that, among other things, makes the transition of 65 children to the secondary school and back more secure. ” I am proud of our engineering troops who have contributed to the extension of roads or the construction of bridges, like today’s case in Arrëz. With the construction of the bridge in this village, we are giving the opportunity to people not only to communicate with neighboring villages, but to make the area more accessible for Albanian and foreign tourists", - said the Minister.

Deputy Minister of Defense visits troops in Latvia; the multinational battalion group in Latvia reaches the full operational capacity

Deputy Minister of Defense, Mr. Petro Koçi visited the Albanian military troops, which are part of the multinational battalion in Latvia. AF contribute to this battalion group with a demolition platoon (EOD). The battalion was set up in Latvia in June 2017, as part of NATO's initiative for "Presence of Advanced Force ". In this battalion group, troops from Canada, Albania, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and Latvia participated in achieving full operational capabilities on September 28, 2017.

Present at this meeting were Defense Ministers of Canada, Poland, Slovenia, Latvia and high representatives of Spain and Italy.
