Sonila Hysi

Adviser at Defence Minister Cabinet 2025 -

Advisor at the Cabinet of the Defence Minister since January 2025.

Ms. Sonila Hysi has a long leadership experience of over 20 years, making a significant contribution to strengthening institutional capacities and the full realization of their objectives.

With a distinguished career in both the private sector and public administration, she held key positions in financial management and accounting of private commercial companies from 2009 to 2014. In 2014, she joined the Public Administration through the Ministry of Finance and Economy, where for 4 years she headed the Support Directorate of the National Authorizing Official, responsible for the financial management and internal control of the European Union IPA and IPARD Programmes in Albania. During her leadership, Albania managed to secure accreditation for the IPARD II and IPA II Programmes in indirect management.

In 2020, she was appointed Executive Director at the National Diaspora Agency (NDA), where she led the agency's strategy and operational management. During this period, Ms.Hysi demonstrated strong leadership skills, effective decision-making, and management of high-performing teams.

She also held the position of Director of the Cabinet at the Financial Supervisory Authority (FSA) and later managed the Securities Printing House, an institution under the Ministry of Finance. She currently holds the position of Advisor in the Cabinet of the Minister of Defense.
Education and Qualifications.

Ms. Hysi graduated in 2009 with a degree in Finance from the State University of New York/Empire State College. In 2012, she completed her Master of Science in Business Administration at the Institut Universitaire Kurt Bösch (IUKB), Switzerland. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Sofia “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

She has obtained a number of qualifications and training courses from the most prestigious institutions, including:
- “Executive Program for Leading Economic Growth” at Harvard Business School (2012)
- “Microeconomics and Competition” at Harvard Kennedy School (2016)
- “Public Administration and Management Capability”, organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (2018)
