Minister Kodheli at the NATO Summit in Warsaw

During the NATO Summit being held in Warsaw, Defence Minister Mrs. Kodheli held a meeting with her Turkish Counterpart Fikri Işık. Initially Minister Kodheli condemned the attack at Istanbul Ataturk Airport, and expressed her condolences to the families of the victims.

NATO Summit, Minister Kodheli on a conversation with journalists

Defence Minister Mrs. Kodheli hosted today the journalists for a conversation regarding the issues that are expected to be discussed at the NATO Summit which will be held in Warsaw on 8 and 9 July 2016.
Initially Minister Kodheli noted that this time the NATO Summit takes place in a moment when we face serious security challenges, which are the main topics of this Summit. Afterwards Mrs. Kodheli spoke about Albania's participation in international missions, as well as our country's posture regarding the open door policy of NATO.

The Air Force of Albanian Republic clarifies that the two pilots who lost their lives in the tragic accident on April 6th, had been qualified and trained. Due to the need of replacing the helicopter crashed in France with another type, helicopter EC 145, SAR variant, it became necessary to amend the contract of Cougar helicopters. This amendment hasn’t changed any stipulation of the previous contract in terms of training.

Second day of Minister’s Kodheli participation in the Defence Ministerial in Brussel

On the second day of remarks of Defence Ministerial Meeting in Brussel, Defence ministers addressed the issue of stability project beyond the borders of NATO. Ministers focused on the support that could NATO give to the global coalition against - ISIS, NATO activities in the Aegean Sea ", the strengthening of security in the partner countries such as Iraq, the situation in Afghanistan and on the mission" Resolute Support " and its perspective.

Minister Kodheli takes part in the Defence Ministerial in Brussels

NATO Defence ministers’ meeting has started today in Brussels, where they have also established the main milestones on which will be discussed the strengthening of Alliance’s defense capacities. During this day, the ministers dealt with and set up concrete steps on strengthening the collective defense of NATO. In particular, they discussed about NATO’s posture in deterring and defending risks (Deterrence and Defense). At this point, it was agreed on the deployment and magnitude of NATO advanced force on its eastern borders, as well as the continuance of work in examining the proposals to extend this deployment and in the Black Sea area.
