Minister Xhaçka praised the military doctors: Your work has been an extraordinary contribution

At least 120 doctors and nurses of various specialties, part of the Armed Forces, gave their extraordinary contribution in the midst of this pandemic. Military doctors and nurses at the Trauma Hospital were at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, identifying new cases of infection.

Since March, the Armed Forces set up triage tents outside the Trauma Hospital where after preliminary checks they detected patients with COVID-19 before being hospitalized.

Assistance to 600 needy families in Mat, Burrel and Klos, Xhaçka: Humanitarian operations, all over the country

The humanitarian operations by the Armed Forces and the State Reserves continued on the weekend. Support Command of the Armed Forces and the State Reserves delivered food packages to over 600 families in need, and single retirees in the municipalities of Mat, Bulqizë and Klos.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, published photos of the personnel on the terrain, assuring that the humanitarian operation will continue day after day in every region of the country with the main focus on the assistance of families in economic difficulties.

One year had passed from the tragedy in Latvia, Xhaçka: We owe a debt of gratitude to our martyrs

The Armed Forces honored two fallen effectives a year ago in Latvia, Major Klodian Tanushi and Corporal Zerife Hasanaj. In a special ceremony organized by the Company of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), attended by the Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka and the Chief of General Staff of the AAF, Bardhyl Kollçaku, who laid wreaths at the memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the homeland in this company.

"We lost two of our best effectives. The AAF family lost two of its members. Two effectives who had their bright career ahead of them, as they had shown their potential in every training and every dislocation ", said Defense Minister during her speech.

MoD’s Press Release on COVID - 19 cases within the ranks of the Armed Forces

Ministry of Defense (MoD) informs that 3 members of the Albanian Armed Forces (AAF), part of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), have been tested positive for COVID-19. The 3 officers were infected while on duty in the KFOR mission, and are part of the contribution of 29 AAF personnel in this operation. 

According to NATO guidelines, if military personnel representatives in mission of one of the member states of the Alliance come out positive with COVID-19, they must be repatriated.
