Floods, Minister Xhaçka in Darëzezë, Fier: Measures have been taken, the situation is under control

In the early hours of the morning, the Defense Minister Olta Xhacka, accompanied by the head of the Municipality Fier, Armando Subashi, was in Darëzezë, Fier, closely monitoring the hydropower situation after the heavy rains.
Given the serious situation created by the destruction of the Vjosa River embankment, after two o'clock in the morning of Sunday, Minister Xhaçka is headed for Darëzezë, where the situation is critical but under control as there have been taken all the necessary measures to secure the residents.
Maximal engagement of the Armed Forces in the last 24 hours

The severe situation created in the country, mainly in some areas due to the heavy rainfalls in the last 24 hours, has led to Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania to be engaged at maximum.
The largest concentration of AFs has been and remains in the Vjosa valley, where several families have been evacuated where about 450 Army officers have been engaged in operations. Yesterday, AFs were present in Fushe-Kruje and in Novosel, Fier; where they have enabled the cleansing from mud of the cities, As well as they have assisted with their means to remove most of the water quantity.

The Defense Minister Olta Xhacca and the United States Ambassador Donald Lu visited the operating room of the Armed Forces Joint Operational Center (JOC) a few minutes ago where they were acquainted with the current situation after the deterioration of the weather in the country.
The US Ambassador praised the work and commitment of the Armed Forces so far and expressed solidarity and support for the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces for successfully overcoming the situation of the last few days.

What we experienced was a difficult but a totally manageable night. To the unusual situation due to rainfall, the Armed Forces and the entire state structure have responded with the utmost commitment to cope with the situation.
500 Armed Forces officers have been engaged to cope with the situation in the worst-affected area, mainly in the districts of Tirana, Durrës and Gjirokastra. Actually, the effectives of the Support Comand, Land Force, Military Police, and the General Staff Support Battalion have managed to evacuate 315 people.

Three days ago, the General Directorate of Civil Emergencies, now subordinate to the Ministry of Defense, through a formal letter has specifically requested that all district prefects, city mayors, heads of central regional and local institutions take urgent measures to cope with any emergency situation, as well as ensure conditions for normal community life.
We are in constant communication with the local government, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, in order to take measures for the protection of the water supply network providing potable water against problems that may be caused from floods; control of river embankments in cooperation with the Directorates of drainage boards and contracting entities that use river inertia; monitoring of road axes and keeping them open for the normal traffic flow.
