The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli held an official meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Defence, Mr. Chuck Hagel. Minister Kodheli informed Secretary Hagel about reforms undertaken so far and joint commitments in the framework of the Alliance. During the meeting, they discussed about education and training of Albanian militaries in American military education system. Minister Kodheli portrayed the American education as an example to be followed.

On the second day of her visit to the United States, the Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli met the Assistant Secretary of State for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia, Ms. Victoria Nuland. Ms. Nuland thanked Minister Kodheli for the contribution made to help the Peshmerga in Iraq. With this act, said Ms. Nuland, you reminded to Europe its important role.

Defence Minister Kodheli official visit to the United States

The Minister of Defence, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli is on an official visit to the United States invited by the Secretary of Defence, Mr. Chuck Hagel.

On the first day of the visit, Minister Kodheli opened the bilateral talks in Defence, which define the foundation and development prospects of the cooperation in the next two years. Main topics of talks focused on further strengthening and deepening of cooperation, especially in new areas such as, the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania, the development of joint operations, etc.

An awareness activity for the fight against breast cancer was organised today at the Ministry of Defence. At the activity attended military and civilian women working in the structures of the Ministry of Defence, General Staff of the Armed Forces, as well as in other structures of “Skënderbej” garrison.
