Albania - Turkey, Defense Cooperation Plan is signed

Turkey is one of the most important contributors to military logistics and the civil emergency in Albania.

It is also shown that Turkey is not only one of the country's best security and defense partners, but also an ally country in difficult times. Turkish state gave a significant help during the difficult period following the earthquake that struck the country on 26 November last year.

"Shpiragu 20", 3rd Infantry Battalion compacting its companies for peace operations

The Albania Land Force troops are continuing the training aimed to increase their capacity in undertaking peacekeeping operations.

The 3rd Infantry Battalion (3rd IB) in Poshnje conducted the 72-hour “Shpiragu” exercise to test and improve the capabilities of the participating personnel.

The exercise was conducted at company level and over a three days course the participants effectively implemented different scenarios, during day and night.

Lance Corporal Luiza Gega, the Europian Athlete of the month

Lance Corporal of the Military Police Luiza Gega was announced European Athlete of January by the European Federation of Athletics.

The evaluation of the athlete, who is also part of the Albanian Armed Forces came after a remarkable performance at the World Tour of Indoor Halls in Karlsruhe, Germany, where she broke the national record in the 3000 m race.

Considering this achievement very significant for Albanian sport, Lance Corporal Gega dedicates this evaluation to the work done, to her coach Taulant Stërmasi, but also to those who support her, including the Armed Forces of Albania.

Albania "breaks" the rules. NATO accepts Xhaçka's invitation and lands in Tirana

NATO entrusts Albania the organization of the Defense Ministerial, thus appreciating the role that our country plays in the region stabilization. This will be the first time that a Defense Ministerial will be run in the Western Balkans, as meetings are held in Belgium for more than 10 years.

The Defense Ministers of NATO member countries approved at a meeting of the Atlantic Council in Brussels the proposal of the Defense Minister, Olta Xhaçka, to hold the Defense Ministerial in Tirana in June.

“Women, peace and security agenda in Albania”, Minister Xhaçka: 35, 4% of new officers are women

The number of women serving in the Armed Forces is increased; last year over 35% of newly promoted officers were women, marking a 5% rise since 2018.

These were the findings that Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, presented at the Conference "Women, peace, security agenda in Albania", organized by the OSCE Presence in Albania and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, on the 20th Anniversary of the adoption of UNSCR 1325.
