New Academic Year starts in the Armed Forces, Defence Minister Xhaçka: New Vision for Military Education and Training

The Armed Forces Academy (AFA) has opened the doors to start the new Academic Year 2018 - 2019.

171 military personnel from the Albanian Armed Forces, but also from allied countries, will attend this academic year in all the programs that the Academy of Armed Forces conducts, starting with the course for preparing the junior officers to the Course of High Security and Defense, where future generals are prepared.

Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka congratulated all military personnel attending this academic year at AFA and she explicitly mentioned 59 new candidates to become Albanian military officers and students who were sent to study at the world's most prestigious military academies.

The Armed Forces the best team of "Tirana Marathon"

The Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania were dignitousely represented in the semi-marathon of Tirana by approximately 100 military personnel, who were also awarded as the best team of this marathon which was attended by more than 2500 competitors from Albania, Europe and Africa in races of 10 and 21km.

An invitation to NATO by the Ministry of Defence, Mrs. Olta Xhaçka: One of the ministerials next year to be held in Tirana

Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka, at the end of the NATO North Atlantic Defense Ministerial, held at the NATO headquarters in Brussels, made a special invitation to NATO leaders and countries member.

The minister proposed that one of the NATO Ministerial next year should be held in Tirana.
“I would have the pleasure that the NATO Ministerial that falls on the 10th anniversary of Albania's membership in the Alliance, take place in Tirana", - said Xhaçka.

NATO Ministerial, Xhaçka: 2% of GDP for the Army by 2024

Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka participated in the North Atlantic Alliance's Defense Ministerial that was held at the NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Minister Xhaçka underlined the Albanian government's commitment to raise the allocated Defence budget, highlighting the commitment to allocate 2% of GDP for Defense by 2024.
"By 2024, the defense budget will be 2% of GDP" , - said Xhaçka, while announcing the certification of one thousand infantrymen under the supervision of NATO's best experts.

1 thousand military officers are certified by NATO, Xhaçka: Today we are equal among equals

Albania's Armed Forces nowadays have a full-fledged battalion squad, rated according to NATO standards. At the end of a weekly exercise "Albania Lion / Biza 18", attended by over 1 thousand and 200 hundred troops and military vehicles, Group Battalion of Light Infantry was certified as "Combat Ready" (ready for battle), under the monitoring of NATO experts.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka in her speech, at the end of the training, said that the Albanian Armed Forces have marked a turning point in their history, ranking equal among the equals.
