KFOR Commander official visit to our country

Commander of KFOR, Major General Lorenzo D’Addario, paid an official visit to Tirana, where he was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Petro Koçi.
Major General D’Addario’s visit to our country takes place in the framework of discussions on key security issues, as well as on the progress and continual support of our country for NATO Operations in Kosovo (KFOR).
Deputy Minister Koçi assessed the importance of KFOR for security in the Republic of Kosovo and expressed Albania’s unconditional support for the integration and strengthening of security and defense institutions.
Minister Xhaçka at the Air Force Command: Security measures according to the legal framework with NATO

Minister of Defence Olta Xhaçka visited Air Force Command this Thursday, which is located few meters away from the International Airport “Mother Teresa” in Rinas.
From Wednesday evening, Military Police troops have been patrolling along the Airport security perimeter. The airport runway is used also for military flights by the Armed Forces and NATO member states. Meanwhile, Special Forces Battalion troops are kept in state of readiness within the Air Force Command.

The incident that occurred yesterday at Rinas Airport was undoubtedly serious.
I share the same concerns of citizens and colleagues that something like this cannot be happening in an area of particular importance.
What is already known from the analysis and investigation is that security mechanisms at the Airport, which are under the responsibility of the Chinese Concessionaire Company, have failed completely.
The Concessionaire has failed to fulfill its responsibilities to guarantee the physical security parameters and has not implemented the mandatory security standards established by the domestic legislation and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
USA donate 37 MRAPs to the Armed Forces, Xhaçka: Performance and capacities of AAF will increase even more

The performance and capacities of Albania’s Armed Forces will increase even more, thanks to the generosity of the United States Government, which donated 37 Mine Resistant and Ambush Protected vehicles to the AAF.
The Armored Vehicles of the International MaxxPro MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) brand will be used by the structures of our Armed Forces, which are part of NATO’s collective defense.
Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. of the United States in our country Ms. Leyla Moses-Ones, and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku were present at the donation ceremony.

Albanian soldiers serving in Resolute Support International Missions in Herat and Kabul, Afghanistan, Aegean Sea, Latvia, KFOR Kosovo and Mali congratulated Albania’s 10th Anniversary of NATO Membership.
In a video communication with Albanian servicemen, Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka thanked them for their valuable contribution not only to the places they serve, but also for the assessment Albania receives as a worthy member of NATO.
