Mission in Aegean Sea, Minister Xhaçka: We will support NATO next year as well

The mission of the Albanian Naval Force to the NATO operation in the Aegean Sea will be extended. During the tour of duty to the Naval Force Command in Durrës, Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka has announced that the mission, scheduled to close at the end of this year, will continue next year. Such a decision, according to the Defense Minister, is related to the very positive performance that the Albanian crew of the "Oriku" Vessel has had with their contribution to the Search and Rescue (SAR) operations of immigrants in the Aegean Sea last year.

The Ministry of Defense starts identifying properties that are not currently military deployment locations. Mission in the Aegean Sea, the Albanian Naval Force rescue the lives of 115 Syrian immigrants

115 children, women and men, all Syrian immigrants have arrived safely on the shore, thanks to the professionalism of the "Oriku" ship crew, on mission to the Aegean Sea. According to information from the Naval Force Command, immigrants were sailing from the Turkish coast to the Greek island of Chios. "Oriku" crew observed them and notified the Turkish and Greek counterparts. There have been two search and rescue operations in succession of the Albanian ship, which for almost a year represents Albania in the NATO operation in the Aegean Sea, "Sea Guardian”.
In these 12 months, there are 700 rescued lives, including over 300 children and women. The Albanian Naval Force ship is engaged in the NATO operation on the Aegean Sea to prevent the flow of illegal immigrants attempting to enter European Union countries.
Ammunition Hotspots, Xhaçka: Our objective is to clean Albania by the end of 2018

Within the next year, the Armed Forces will complete the clearance of all areas contaminated by war ammunitions and explosive waste in different parts of the territory, the so-called hotspots. The explosions of weapons and ammunition depots throughout the country, during the riots in 1997, contributed to the deterioration of the situation and the widening of the map of hotspots in almost the entire territory of our country. According to estimates, the polluted regions casualties recorded are of 151 dead people and 851 injured ones.
Xhaçka confirms: Our Special Forces will be engaged in Afghanistan

Special Forces, part of the Albanian Armed Forces, will be engaged in mission to Afghanistan. Minister of Defense Olta Xhaçka, notified the decision during her visit to the Land Force Command in Zall Herr. Having lunch with Special Forces, Minister Xhaçka confirmed that Albania will continue to be represented in peacekeeping missions by sending a military group of the Elite Battalion to Afghanistan.
