Fires in the country, 200 AAF servicemen on the ground, no citizen at risk

About 200 servicemen of the Albanian Armed Forces came to aid the firefighters in some municipalities of the country, where several fire spots have been identified. 10 hotbeds have remained active so far, but they are under monitoring and no threat is posed to citizens. Meanwhile 3 fires spots were extinguished in the Dibra district.


The National Operational Center for Civil Protection informs that there are 4 active fire hotspots in Lezha, in the administrative unit of Shëngjin, the “Rëra e hedhur-Maja e Zezë” area and they are trying to isolate them.

Young Officers graduate from the Armed Forces, Xhaçka: the Academy launches its own bachelor studies

Thirty girls and boys completed the one year course of the Young Officer in the Armed Forces.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka attended their graduation ceremony, announcing the reopening of the Armed Forces Academy to Albanian graduates for the 2020-2021 academic year.
Minister Xhaçka mentioned the investments made during the recent years in the modernization of the Armed Forces, and stressed in particular the investment in education and training of human resources. "

Çako on fires situation: Most of them are set deliberately, municipalities have to take their responsibilities

The Director of the National Civil Protection Agency, Haki Çako, issued a press release following the situation created in these days by the fires in the country.

After making a summary of the number of fires and burned areas, Mr. Çako stressed that most of them started deliberately. He confirmed the readiness of the Ministry of Defense and stressed that local government have to take their responsibilities to be the first to deal with the civil emergencies.

Major General Bajram Begaj appointed as the new Chief of the General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces

Major General Assoc. Prof. Bajram Begaj took office as the new Chief of General Staff of the Albanian Armed Forces, after a military ceremony, where the Minister of Defense, Olta Xhaçka handed him over the national flag.

Prior to the ceremony, Major General Begaj, with the hand on the Constitution sworn before the President of the Republic, Ilir Meta.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka thanked the departing Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Bardhyl Kollçaku, who will continue to be part of the Armed Forces and give his contribution.

Civil Emergencies modernized, Xhaçka: Very soon one of the best equipped in Western Balkans

Civil Emergency structures, part of the Armed Forces will be way better equipped and more dignified in the fight against natural disasters. 1250 new uniforms, conform to safety standards, were donated by the Turkish Government to our Armed Forces.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka expressed her deepest gratitude to the Turkish people and government, mentioning also the quote "a friend in need is a friend indeed".
Focusing on investments done in the Armed Forces, Minister Xhaçka emphasized the attention given to modernization and reorganization of Civil Emergencies structures.
