Albania takes over the leadership of the Adriatic Charter, in Tirana takes place the first political level meeting

As the country that chairs the US - Adriatic Charter (A-5) Initiative for 2019, in Tirana was held the Joint Political Directors Meeting of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Ministries of Defense of the US-Adriatic Charter Initiative (A-5).

This was the first political meeting organized in the framework of this Initiative, while other meetings in defense and military perspectives were organized earlier in 2019 in our country.

This meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Inid Milo, Director of NATO and Security Policies at the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and Mr. Gjergji Methoxha, Director of NATO and EU Policies in the Ministry of Defense.

The ALS Butrinti on mission in the Aegean Sea rescues 50 migrants

Albanian patrol vessel (ALS) Butrinti, on mission in the Aegean Sea, in patrolling its area of operation, rescued yesterday a boat with 50 migrants crossing from Çeşme to the island of Chios, Greece.

Immediately the boat was escorted and the Turkish, Greek, and Frontex Coast Guard vessels were notified on the situation.

The migrants were taken from the Turkish Coast Guard, which then continued sailing back to Çeşme Port.

Minister Xhaçka again in Pentagon within a year, Albania is considered a worthy ally

Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka paid an official visit to Pentagon, the second within a year, where she was welcomed by the Secretary of Defense on duty Patrick Shanahan.
The Defence Minister described the United States of America as a great friend and ally of Albanians. According to her, the future of the region would have been different without the support of this Strategic Ally.

KFOR Commander official visit to our country

Commander of KFOR, Major General Lorenzo D’Addario, paid an official visit to Tirana, where he was welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Petro Koçi.
Major General D’Addario’s visit to our country takes place in the framework of discussions on key security issues, as well as on the progress and continual support of our country for NATO Operations in Kosovo (KFOR).
Deputy Minister Koçi assessed the importance of KFOR for security in the Republic of Kosovo and expressed Albania’s unconditional support for the integration and strengthening of security and defense institutions.
