The Military Cooperation Program is signed between Albania and Greece

Albania and Greece signed the 2019 Military Cooperation Program, the main points of which are cooperation in Search and Rescue operations and policing of our airspace.

The Military Cooperation Program includes training at the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Center and the Multinational Peace Support Operations Training Center, participation in joint trainings, exchanges of trainers and visits of respective military delegations.
The 2019 Military Cooperation Program was signed in Athens by the Director of International Relations at the General Staff of the Greek Armed Forces, Michael Naoum and Defense Policy Director at the Ministry of Defense of Albania, Florian Kali.

Security in the Balkans, Xhaçka: Time to unite forces against destabilization attempts

Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka participated in the international conference “Security Challenges in the Balkans and the role of external actors in the era of Euro-Atlantic transition”, organized by George C. Marshall Center for Security Studies, Albanian Policy Center and US Embassy in Tirana.
Minister Xhaçka stressed that the reason why the Balkans is in the focus of these efforts is comprehensible: “The Balkans are an easier target and the uncertain and destabilized Balkans means also a threatened Europe”, - she said.

Albanian Naval Force vessels exercise with the frigates of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2

Three patrol boats of the Albanian Naval Force exercised with the Flagship of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2) in the Adriatic’s Albanian Territorial Sea.
The patrol boats of the Albanian Navy Force  “Iliria”, “Lissus” and “Briza” and their crews carried out military maneuvers with the Dutch frigate “Evertsen”, which is the flagship of SNMG2 and the other frigate part of this group, the Canadian “Toronto”.

The participating training vessels tested the capabilities for defense against asymmetric and terrorist threats from small fast sailing vessels. Tactical ship lineups, improvisation of supply in the sea and exchange of signals were also tested.

“Information fusion in the age of disinformation”, Petro Koçi: Russia poses a risk for the Western Balkans

Information fusion in the age of disinformation” was the theme of Western Balkans and Black Sea Region two-day Conference, which was conducted at the Ministry of Defense.

This conference, organized by the Joint Force Command of NATO in Naples, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, aims to address a wide range of issues related to the identification, evaluation and handling of disinformation, fake news and influence, which is exercised in the aforementioned regions.

Deputy Defense Minister Petro Koçi during his speech said that we are constantly being influenced by the growing “booming” of communication tools that are being also abused, as in the case of Russia and the impact it is trying to create in the Western Balkans.

Last farewell to the Homeland Martyr, Major Klodian Tanushi

Major Klodian Tanushi, Commander of the Albanian Contingent in Latvia, was honored with the highest military and state obsequies before he is laid to rest in the Homeland Martyrs’ Cemetery in Tirana.

Major Klodian Tanushi fell in line of duty due to an explosion at the Camp Adazi in Latvia, where the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group and the Albanian Contingent under his leadership are deployed.

For more than two hours, at the premises of the National Museum of History obsequies were held for Major Tanushi.
