Steering Committee Meeting of the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence convenes in Albania

For the first time, Steering Committee Meeting of the NATO Security Force Assistance Centre of Excellence (NATO SFA COE) meets outside the host country, Italy. On the 26th of May, the first 2022 session of the NATO SFA COE was held in Golem, Durrës. The members of the Committee discussed the current projects of the center, the presentation of the draft work program for 2023, etc.
The center consists of three countries, respectively, Italy as a host country and Albania and Slovenia in the role of sponsoring countries. Austria will soon become part of this center, also as a contributing partner country.
67 years since the creation of the Military Aviation Regiment in Kuçova, soon a NATO base

Today marks the 67 Anniversary of the Creation of the First Albanian Military Aviation Regiment, which in 1995 was named Kuçova Air Base, and soon will be one of the bases of the NATO Alliance.
Defence Minister Niko Peleshi commemorates the 67 Anniversary by expressing his gratitude and appreciation for the enthusiastic work of the pilots for the community through the testimony of the oldest pilot of the Air Base, Faslli Spahiu.
Peleshi attends the training of Land Force personnel by SFAB: Waiting for NATO certification

Defense Minister Niko Peleshi followed closely a training day of Land Force by a group of the Security Force and Assistance Brigade (SFAB), US European Command.
Minister Peleshi said that this training serves to increase the level of the Albanian Armed Forces as part of NATO, and the certification in September by the Alliance.

Three years had passed since Major Klodian Tanushi and Lieutenant Zarife Hasanaj fell on the line of duty, while on a NATO mission in Latvia.
Major Klodian Tanushi and Lieutenant Zerife Hasanaj, part of the Albanian contingent within the NATO mission "Enhanced Forward Presence" in Latvia, lost their lives while performing combat duties.
US convenes conference on Ukraine, Peleshi: We will unconditionally support the Ukrainian people

Defence Minister Niko Peleshi accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Bajram Begaj participated in the conference, convened by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, which was held at the air base in Ramstein, Germany.
In this conference, the US had invited to attend the Defence Ministers and the representatives from 40 different countries, where they discussed the situation in Ukraine, the needs that this country has for assistance in the current and long-term plan, the dynamics of fighting in Ukraine, the assessment of their combat capabilities, the opportunities to contribute to the improvement of these capabilities, as well as increasing the defense capabilities of this country in the future.
