Graduated 43 new cadets, Xhaçka: They will not be just only officers, but as well financiers, doctors and lecturers

From now on the AAF will have 43 brand new officers. 43 cadets having attended the Training Course for Young Officers were graduated today during a ceremony. Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka, members of the Security Commission, military and family members of the cadets were present.

During the addressing speech, Minister Xhaçka stated that these newly graduated youngsters will not be just only 43 more names in the AAF Departments, but there will be 43 young men and women ready to be the future leaders of the Armed Forces, to promote professionalism, discipline and commitment to our nation.

Sazan, "Iliria" ship helps 50 tourists

 

 

Due to bad weather, 50 Albanian and foreign tourists, including children, got stranded on the island of Sazan after their trip on a small vessel.

Among the tourists were also a group of foreign journalists from different news agencies. Journalists sought help from the Armed Forces since the high waves hindered their movement for several hours.

AAF open doors for young men and women, Minister Xhaçka: Opportunities for good professionists

The Albanian Armed Forces (AAF) open the doors for high school students, in order to spend summer days near the Military Units to look closely and to become part of the everyday work of men and women in uniform. The first group of young people was welcomed in the premises of the Land Force Garrison in Zall - Herr. In the frame of "Youth - Talent - Opportunity - Dignity" special mission, they became part of the AAF during a week.

The young participants were greeted by the Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka and the Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Mrs. Lindita Nikolla. The Defence Minister congratulated the youngsters for participating in this one-week event, inviting them to consider their future in the AAF.

The French National Day; Defence Minister attends the oldest military parade in the world

Defence Minister Olta Xhaçka participated in the Bastille Day Military Parade in Paris organized on the occasion of July 14th, the French National Day. Minister Xhaçka and senior representatives of many countries attended the oldest Military Parade in the world, which is traditionally held at Champs Elysees on the invitation of the President Emanuel Macron,.

The Defence Minister travelled to Paris after the Adriatic Charter Defense Ministerial held in Croatia and NATO Summit in Brussels. In both of these important meetings was assessed Albania's contribution on peacekeeping missions and NATO's collective defense operations. Right now our country is spending 1.2% of GDP, whereas the goal of the Albanian Government is to increase the budget up to 2% until 2024.

“Lissus” replaces “Butrint” in the Aegean Sea

The Albanian Naval Force Ship Lissus and its crew, set off for the NATO operation "Sea Guardian". “Lissus” will replace “Butrint” that has been patrolling for about 6 months in the Aegean Sea.
The 9th Contingent left from Pashaliman Naval Base, and will serve for 3 months in the Aegean Sea operation.


The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Commander of the Naval Force, representatives of local government in Vlora, Directors of the General Staff of AAF. There were also invited family members of the servicemen sent to the operation.
Two women are also part of “Lissus” crew, LT Eglantina Mone and Sgt Milika Poçi, nurse by profession.
