Celebrating with the families of the military in missions, Xhaçka: Proud for your parents

This weekend, 153 effectives of the Armed Forces will miss the celebration dinners with their families. But for some moments, the Albanian effectives engaged in international missions were close to their families on the eve of the holidays. On the festive meeting organized by the Ministry of Defense, they had the opportunity to see and communicate with their family members through live videos from the bases they serve.

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, considering the AF as a big family, said that this was precisely why she chose to celebrate with family members of effectives on missions abroad.

"We will increase our presence by 60% in Afghanistan in 2018," said the Defense Minister, Olta Xhaçka during reception ceremony of the 6th Contingent that completed the mission in Kabul and at the same time the departing ceremony of the 3rd Contingent on mission in Herat, Afghanistan.

"This is a moment that makes us feel proud of our achievements and contribution that the AAF provide to support our allies in establishing peace, security and help return to normal a very hot spot in the globe. Such ceremonies, as seeing off the contingents to the next missions, always carry an added value, the increase of experience, the raise of the professionalism of our troops in the theater of operations. We remain committed to continue contributing by increasing on 60% our presence in Afghanistan for 2018, thus responding positively to President Trump's new strategy on Afghanistan. Representation in these missions has now become a symbol of professionalism and dedication of our military", - said the Defense Minister.

The business helps the flooded families. 40 tons of goods delivered at the special center of the Armed Forces

40 tones of food and other goods were deposited today at the Reception and Assistance Administration Center in support of families affected a few days ago by bad weather. Through this initiative, "Business Albania" forum, aims not only to help residents, but also to create a business tradition of helping the community in emergencies. The delivery of 30 tons of food for families, 10 tons of food for livestock and 10 tons of refrigerated food was made at a special ceremony, attended by: Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka, State Secretary for Enterprise Protection Sonila Qato, president of "Business Albania" Luan Bregasi and a group of business leaders in our country. The Minister Xhaçka, praised the initiative and ensured transparency in the distribution, in all areas affected by the floods.

Xhaçka: Investing in the future of the Armed Forces, the right investment for a safer Albania

At the end of the year, the Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka held a meeting with the special structure of Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) of the Engineering Battalion in the Support Command. A contingent of this structure came back home a few days ago from Latvia, where since June this year, Albania is represented by its members, part of the NATO Mission.

During her speech, Minister Xhaçka congratulated the EOD structure as a very important part of the AAF for carrying out the mission responsibilities in Latvia and Mali.

Xhaçka appeals to Military Attachés: Greater engagement on projects with Allies

Defense Minister Olta Xhaçka had an end of year meeting with Albanian Military Attachés. In the meeting she asked their maximum engagement and attention for new cooperation projects with the countries where they are accredited. "Your role and work for the next year should focus even more on fostering joint projects between our country and the countries where you are carrying your mission, in order to strengthen the Armed Forces. Specializing our effectives and comparative advantage are two features that day by day are characterizing our Armed Forces, so your contribution and proactive role in terms of education and joint training will increase the quality of AF's performance" - said the Minister.
