Lecture of Defence Minister Mrs. Kodheli at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), London

Good day to everyone and let me start by thanking the organizers for inviting me to share views and thoughts on “the Western Balkans region affected by threats on Eastern and Southern zone bordering NATO”.
It is a pleasure and privilege for me to give my remarks at the Royal United Services Institute, a prestigious and independent forum of thinking and discussing cross-cutting matters of defence and security.

Defence Minister Kodheli official visit to United Kingdom

Kodheli: I am here today to convey the message that Albania is a good ally. We would like to further strengthen the Defence relations between the two countries.
The Defence Minister, Mrs. Kodheli is paying an official visit to UK. She was received by her counterpart, the UK Secretary of Defence, Mr. Michael Fallon. They discussed about the Defence relations between the two countries.

National Conference against Corruption

The National Conference against Corruption which took place today in Tirana was organized from OSCE, UNDP, Europian Commission and Minister of State for Local Government. The Defence Minister Kodheli shared with the audience a presentation on the job done from the MoD and AAF to fighting the corruption; starting with the prevention from corruption, the changes on the legislation, the start up and further consolidation of anti corruption units, the better information and transparency policy and ending with findings of all this process.

Agreement of 1.2 mln euro between Albanian Agency for Geographic Information and the Norwegian Mapping Authority

Ministry of Defence and Norwegian Mapping Authority signed the ALNO – HIP collaboration project (Albanian – Norwegian Hidrographic Project)
At the event took part the Defence Minister, Mrs. Mimi Kodheli; the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jeronim Bazo; the ambassador of Kingdom of Norway in Albania, Mr. Jan Braathu, the commander of Naval Force, Brigadier General Qemal Shkurti, high rapresenatatives of Norwegian Hydrographic Service Division and of Albanian Hidrographic Service.

17 ton of Montenegro’s ammunition has been demolished in Albania

The process of demolition of 17 ton of Montenegro’s ammunition took place at the Explosive Materials Plant in Mjekës, Elbasan. The whole experience is of particular importance, because it turns the country into a specialized dismantling centre and increasing this way the possibility for opening new jobs’ position.
It’s worth noting that during the implementation of the whole project the personnel did survey the rigorous NATO standards on security.
During the Defence Minister inspection at the Explosive Materials Plant in Mjekës, she was very optimistic about the opportunities offered to the Albanian government at the successful fulfilment of this pilot project.
