Minister Peleshi welcomes the Chair of the Nato Military Committee, Admiral Robert Bauer

The Defence Minister Niko Peleshi welcomed in a special meeting the Chair of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Robert Bauer, who is on a visit to Albania, at the invitation of the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Arben Kingji.

The Defence Minister Peleshi expressed his appreciation for the important visit paid during such a critical time for defense and security in Europe and the whole world. Furthermore, the Minister of Defense congratulated the chair of the Military Committee for the leadership displayed with NATO highest military authorities; moreover, for the very valuable and professional military advice, obtained through the consensus of all member countries and their importance in political decision-making.

2022 achievements and 2023 objectives, Peleshi: We strengthen cyber security; we increase military members’ salaries

Defense Minister Niko Peleshi, accompanied by the Chief of the General Staff of AAF, Brigadier General Arben Kingji, and the General Director of National Agency for Civil Protection (NACP), Haki Çako, during a press presented the achievements during 2022, as well as the objectives and new projects for 2023 in the field of Defense and Civil Protection.

According to Minister Peleshi, in 2022, work on the construction of the NATO Tactical Air Base in Kuçova began. The minister emphasized that this is NATO's first air base and Albania was not unintentionally chosen. “Albania has a strategic position in the Western Balkans, but it is also a NATO ally, safe, clear in its orientation and has an important role to play in the countries where Albanians live: Kosovo, North Macedonia, and also other countries as well”, - said Peleshi.

"Falcon 9" rocket carrying two satellites "Albania 1" and "Albania 2" was launched into space

Falcon 9 rocket, the joint mission of SpaceX Transporter 6, which also carries the satellites "Albania 1" and "Albania 2" was launched into space from the Cape Canaveral station, Florida, today at 9:56 a.m. local time, 2:56 p.m. by local time in Tirana.

The two satellites are launched within the framework of the satellite service contract in the field of Defense and Security for technologically advanced monitoring of the territory of the Republic of Albania between the National Civil Protection Agency and the Operator "Satellogic USA Inc.", worth 6 million dollars.
