Bad weather, Armed Forces on the ground, Peleshi: Emergency Staff have been ready for 10 days, endangered residents were evacuated on time

The Ministry of Defense is monitoring the situation caused by high-intensity rainfall in recent days. Following the information which the structures of National Civil Protection Agency have provided about the endangered residents by heavy rains, the Armed Forces are engaged on the ground to ensure their safety.
The General Director of the National Civil Protection Agency, Haki Cako, and the Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response Robert Hysenllari are monitoring the dangerous situation on the ground.

Rainfall situation in the country

The rainfall intensity has increased a lot in the last 24 hours. The situation created due to the outflow of the Vjosa River over the Mifol bridge is worrying. This has caused flooding in Novoselë and Ferras. In the first hours, over 75 members of the Armed Forces and vehicles have been engaged in the area, in the aid to civil protection structures in Vlora and Fier.
Some roads in the municipalities of Gjirokastra, Dropull, and Këlcyrë are still under the cleaning process from water. Employees of the Road Authority are continuing their work for two days to guarantee free traffic.

Heavy rainfalls during the last two days have caused problems in different parts of the country. The Ministry of Defense announces that the situation throughout the territory is under control, whilst certain regions are being monitored with priority due to the various river inflows.
All hydrophores over the country are operating at full capacity, keeping the average levels of quota, and reservoirs are being monitored and are under control. Related to the infrastructure, normal traffic continues in all national and rural road axes. Except a few cases, the energy supply throughout the country continues normally, and the water supply is uninterrupted.

On December 7-8, 2021, the Fourth Peacekeeping Ministerial for United Nations was held in Seoul, which is received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense of South Korea to discuss the peacekeeping of the United Nations.
The ministerial was conducted in two ways, in-person and video conference, as a result of the pandemic situation caused by COVID-19.
A wide range of speakers, including Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Ministers of Defense, current and former peacekeepers, as well as special guests treated some key peacekeeping challenges during the meeting.

Cyber security is becoming more and more a field which requires specialized personel, so the Defence Minister Niko Peleshi, as the head of the institution greeted the participants in the innovative activity "Cyber Camp Albania ", where he invited young generation orient their careers towards this field.
Minister Peleshi pointed out the dangers threatening state and non-state institutions by cyber attacks, not only in Albania, but also in the US, where every 39 seconds a cyber attack is registered. There are also examples of interference in electoral processes, or in the critical states infrastructures.
